Every fish that is brought into Schmidt is scanned and given a unique barcode. This barcode holds information about at which auction it was bought, the supplier who delivered the fish and delivery dates and times.
We are now working on a system that can tell us which Fishing Boat caught the fish and where.
The fish is monitored, using the barcode, during filleting, weighing, packaging and transportation, right until it's delivered to your kitchen.
A big advantage of this system is of course that if there was a problem we can trace the person/department responsible. This is a first in the fish trading business and it will definitely increase the quality of the delivered products.
